Aw maaan, epidemiology is my other great love--it was either behavior for me or infectious disease, and EEB has better work/life balance. Epidemiology has some great, great stories, though.
Did you know how infectious prions manage to perpetuate themselves in nature? I thought it was weird that all the non-human infectious prion diseases I could think of was ungulates one day, not carnivores--but then the answer turned out to make total sense, especially since most carnivores don't do a ton of scavenging conspecifics.
