why do we keep pets?
Feb. 5th, 2019 08:12 amThis morning I woke up to find my horrible kitten repeatedly rifling through my trash can.
He was stealing (and no doubt, consuming) my used tissues.
I... how... why... screw it, I'm going back to sleep.
And maybe finding a trash can with a lid.

Date: 2019-02-06 12:39 am (UTC)At one point, my menagerie was 2 cats, 2 dogs, 2 hamsters, a rabbit, a hermit crab, an iguana, and 32 fish. The household menagerie is down to 2 dogs these days. I miss having cats, but we haven't found the right ones for the dogs yet. (The Pitbull is rowdy AF. She LIKES cats, but they mostly find her to be too high energy.)
I maintain my pets are better than TV.

Date: 2019-02-06 12:50 am (UTC)The cats are definitely better than TV, but I'd appreciate it if the three non-demented tomcats could settle on a detente that keeps them out of permanent crate and rotate. Gaaah. At least our three get on fine with all one another.
My dog is actually both determined not to have cats fear her--she'll lie on the ground, wagging her tail and trying to be as nonthreatening as she can, until strange cats or fearful ones approach her--and also totally uninterested/disgusted by them otherwise with the sole exception of "her" cat, Peter, who is allowed to cuddle her and sit in her crate sometimes.
