Sometimes people just want to escape and *don't* want to project their messy realities onto their characters. I do that a lot with my characters - like I give them problems and try to make them more than cardboard cutouts, but they're also better at various things than I am, because I don't want to relive my failures and hang-ups in my porn. I just want to fantasize for a bit. Wish fulfillment looks different for everyone, I suppose.
