Whether the c is a hard c (and for that matter whether the i is long or short) actually varies a lot from mood to mood. "Sci" is generally pronounced "sigh" in my head, but "Sciatrix" was originally "ski-a-tricks" and over time and shortening mutated to "sigh-a-tricks" or even "sky-a-trick". So--er, I'd answer to all of those!

I went through a similar phase, although I was never interested in actually being a forensic scientist--I liked other things too much for that. It's such a relaxing show, though, and there's always something really interesting in the cases it showcases/
